Drawing in care homes

I have been running art sessions in care homes for the last 20 years. Before the pandemic completely ended my access to these homes i began a series of drawings based on the relationship between carer and patient. The patient/service user is often completely reliant on the carer to assist them in the most basic of needs such as eating or washing. Having witnessed this interaction for so long I felt compelled to visualise it in my minimalist approach trying to tell the complete story with as little detail as possible. Together with these drawings I plan to create sculptures from clay celebrating the role of the carer which I then hope to exhibit. This project feels even more poignant given the pandemic and how the carers have been even more essential.
